Role track

Treasurer

The role that keeps the campaign legal and trusted. You track every dollar in and out and meet every filing deadline. No accounting degree required.

Who this is

The person legally responsible for the campaign's money.

Contributions, expenses, and reporting. This is a real legal role, not a title. You need to be reliable, organized, and comfortable with deadlines. You do not need to be an accountant — you need to follow the system Civic Grove sets up for you.

What you own

  • Compliant donation infrastructure — ActBlue, not PayPal; campaign bank account
  • Accurate records of every dollar in and out
  • On-time filing of every report

Your curriculum

1

Compliance & Finance

Your home function. Learn it cold. Every deadline, every requirement.

2

Ballot Access & Legal

The finance-registration pieces. Coordinate so nothing falls between the two.

3

Fundraising

Working knowledge so you can record what comes in correctly.

  • Read Compliance & Finance end to end.
  • Register the committee per local rules.
  • Open the campaign bank account.
  • Set up ActBlue. Do not use PayPal.
  • Stand up the Budget and Contribution Tracker.
  • Put every filing deadline for the whole cycle on the calendar.

Your tools

  • Campaign Budget spreadsheet
  • Contribution Tracker — compliance-ready, captures employer/occupation
  • Filing-deadline calendar
