Role track

Field & Volunteer Coordinator

You turn supporters into a field operation that actually reaches voters. Organizing is 1:1 relationship building at its core — and it can be taught.

Who this is

The person who recruits and runs the volunteers.

You own the field program: canvassing, phones, signs, data, and the people who do it all. The campaign's voter contact lives or dies on how well this role is run.

What you own

  • The volunteer team — recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, keeping them
  • Voter contact in the field — canvassing, lawn signs, the door program
  • Data quality and targeting that points effort at the right voters

Your curriculum

1

Volunteers & People Ops

Organizing is 1:1 relationship building. Your core. Curate the experience deliberately.

2

Field & Voter Contact

The channels and how to run them: doors, mail, digital, precinct teams.

3

Data & Targeting

Who to reach so your effort isn't wasted. Clean lists, smart segments.

Your first week

  • Get voter-file access and set up Minivan.
  • Define the voter universe and segments with the campaign.
  • Build the volunteer role menu and onboarding.
  • Recruit your first volunteers through 1:1 conversations, not just a form.
  • Stand up the shift schedule and the lawn-sign pipeline.

Your tools

  • Volunteer Shift Schedule spreadsheet
  • Lawn Sign Delivery Tracker
  • Minivan (canvassing app) and voter file
  • Canvassing how-to guide
  • Volunteer onboarding and role menu
